The Yehuda Sherlock Holmes 4.0 technology was tested by the Natural Diamond Council’s ASSURE 2.0 Program, achieving a “Zero Diamond False Positive Rate.” This means that the Sherlock Holmes 4.0 successfully detected 100% of the lab- grown diamonds tested.
It identified all lab-grown diamonds across all four sample categories: “Primary Loose Sample,” “Smalls Loose Sample,” “Primary Mounted Sample,” and “Smalls Mounted Sample.”
According to the Natural Diamond Council’s ASSURE Program website:
“The ASSURE Program evaluates the performance of Diamond Verification Instruments through rigorous testing with highly challenging sample sets.”
“The ASSURE sample set is specifically designed to challenge the instruments and ensure that the test results are ‘future-proof.’ For instance, the sample includes synthetic diamonds that are not yet commercially available in the jewelry industry.”
Key highlights from the testing:
- The Sherlock Holmes 4.0 was tested by a novice operator.
- It achieved a Zero Diamond False Positive Rate, detecting 100% of the lab-grown diamonds.
- It scored an average 97.5% Diamond Accuracy Rate (the ratio of diamonds correctly identified as diamonds to the total number of diamonds). The optimal Diamond Accuracy rate is 100%. This means that, on average, 2.5% of natural diamonds in the four sample categories were misclassified as lab-grown. No other device (Under $18,000) tested by ASSURE 2.0 outperformed the Sherlock Holmes in this category.
- Dror Yehuda, president of Yehuda Diamond Company, shared, “I was very confident that our technology would detect 100% of the lab-grown diamonds.”
“My dad is smiling from Heaven, and I couldn’t be prouder,” he added. “Protecting the people in our industry is our goal. It’s incredibly gratifying to me and my family that we have reached a detection level that will save so many from making expensive mistakes and damaging their hard-earned reputations.”
A key difference between our three devices (Dr. Watson, Sherlock Holmes 4.0, and Big Sherlock) and other detectors is that our devices connect to the customer’s phone via an app. This feature allows us to continually update the Yehuda app with improvements.
A lab-grown diamond detector, like any digital hardware, is only as current as its software. The Yehuda team is constantly updating the software to ensure our customers are protected when new types of lab-grown diamonds enter the market.
The newer, more challenging CVD diamonds on the market may not be detected by other devices, including older Yehuda models that have not been updated with the latest software.
Mr. Yehuda concluded, “To protect the industry, we are offering a $2,000 trade-in allowance for any older detectors (including Yehuda devices and those from other brands) originally costing over $5,000 when purchasing a new Sherlock Holmes 4.0. We believe everyone should be protected, even if they own devices from other companies.”
